CWO Draft Recap: The First Domino Falls

Forgottosetmyroster is on the clock at pick number one and takes Bijan Robinson, a fourth-year veteran out of Texas, and just like that the tone for this whole draft is set. Grab a beer, because this is CWO: The Show.

The First Domino

There was never any drama here. Forgottosetmyroster sat at pick 1 and took Bijan Robinson, and the room just had to sit there and watch it happen. No trade-back, no cute value play, just the obvious layup — and now everyone else in this league gets to spend the season pretending that pick wasn't sitting right there for the taking.

How the Board Fell

The board turned into a running back buffet fast — five straight backs went off the board through LeagueCastChris, Waitingfortheplayoffs, and 4thandalong10, because apparently nobody in this league trusts a wide receiver to stay healthy for fifteen rounds. Quarterbacks, meanwhile, got left in the corner at the middle school dance — Josh Allen didn't come off the board until pick 16, to there'salwaysnextweek. Tight end got even colder, with Trey McBride waiting until pick 24 for don'tforgetbyeweek to finally blink. And somehow the kicker and defense positions were treated like actual roster spots worth planning for, with Forgottosetmyroster grabbing Brandon Aubrey at pick 121 and Yourmomhatesfootball taking the Los Angeles Rams defense two picks later at 123. Bold strategy in a league that apparently forgot skill positions exist late.

Mr. Irrelevant

With the 150th and final pick of the draft, LeagueCastChris etched his name into league history by selecting Andy Borregales, a kicker, as Mr. Irrelevant himself. Fifteen rounds of blood, sweat, and Alabama running backs, and it all ends with a kicker nobody was fighting over. Somewhere, an angel got its wings, and LeagueCastChris got a punchline for the year.

Around the Room

Forgottosetmyroster built around Bijan Robinson at the top and then doubled down on Ohio State connections, pairing Garrett Wilson with Terry McLaurin. Holdmybeer took Ja'Marr Chase at pick 2 and then decided quarterbacks were optional, waiting all the way until pick 99 to finally draft one. Yourmomhatesfootball grabbed Jonathan Taylor third overall and somehow waited even longer than Holdmybeer, not touching a quarterback until pick 103 — bold, or reckless, we'll find out. there'salwaysnextweek got the first quarterback board and immediately stacked it, pairing Josh Allen with DJ Moore out of the same Bills offense. don'tforgetbyeweek went full Alabama reunion tour, rostering Jahmyr Gibbs, Jaylen Waddle, and DeVonta Smith all from the same college. 4thandalong10 kept the Alabama theme going with Derrick Henry and Brian Robinson, but then made everyone wait until pick 108 for a tight end. isjockitchayeastinfection? took Christian McCaffrey at pick 6 and quietly built an all-Oregon connection with Justin Herbert and Juwan Johnson, on top of stacking Brock Purdy with Mike Evans. Waitingfortheplayoffs leaned into Oklahoma, pairing Jalen Hurts with Mark Andrews after opening with De'Von Achane. Neverdraftakicker led the league with 4 rookies drafted, and still found room for a Georgia stack of Brock Bowers and Ladd McConkey. LeagueCastChris opened with Puka Nacua, closed the entire draft with a kicker, and stitched together an LSU stack in between with Joe Burrow and Brian Thomas.

Season Tease

Watch Holdmybeer and Yourmomhatesfootball all year — waiting until pick 99 and pick 103 for a quarterback is either genius patience or a landmine with a timer on it. Keep an eye on there'salwaysnextweek's Bills stack of Josh Allen and DJ Moore, because that's the kind of bet that either wins a league or explains why you missed the playoffs by four points. And don'tforgetbyeweek's all-Alabama skill corps is either the most stacked offense in the league or a bye-week disaster waiting to happen — the name alone should scare them.
